Today NEC announced that Zain Kuwait has selected NEC’s femtocell solution, following a successful user trial which started in September 2010. The solution will be used to provide a premium indoor mobile experience for Zain’s enterprise and residential customers, and the company is considering rolling out the solution at the group’s companies across the Middle East.
Zain in Kuwait is the Group’s flagship operation, which has a commercial presence in 7 countries across the Middle East and Africa, with about 38 million customers as of March 31, 2011. NEC also confirmed that it has 14 contracts and 28 trials with operators around the world. This is further evidence of acceleration in the femtocell and small cell market. The strong commercial momentum of NEC’s end-to-end femtocell solution also provides further validation of the Ubiquisys intelligent cell technology.
