Here are some more pictures of the working prototype of the attocell, the new personal and travel femtocell mentioned in our previous blog post. We’ve had a lot of enquiries since we announced this new device, many asking how we came to develop it in the first place.
Operators approached us because they were interested in providing a better service to their high value customers on international travel.
Take a typical customer in a hotel room abroad. Most likely they’ll be using a VoIP service like Skype, often encouraged by corporate policy. And in many cases they just can’t get a decent mobile signal.
In both of these cases, operators have to endure their high value customers communicating in a less than effective way, outside the mobile network. By restoring the universal convenience and connectivity of the mobile experience through femtocell technology, the attocell has the potential to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
