Guest post by Mark Gallagher, RAN Business Development, Embedded Systems Group, Intel Corporation.
At the Femtocells World Summit last week we were excited to announce the preview of aspects of our collaboration with Ubiquisys at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in September. Our objective is to stimulate the ecosystem to start thinking about service concepts that harness the new “edge cloud” environment provided by intelligent small cell technologies, and to build new and exciting propositions for service providers and end-users.

Our focus is on harnessing small cells with Intel Architecture (IA) to differentiate the user experience, and on how to develop small cell applications within a standard API framework that we’ll be unveiling together during September. We’ll also be looking at the roadmap for this new architecture – the secure deployment of applications, for example – and running demonstrations to stimulate ideas on how to monetise the ecosystem’s concepts and make it real for the service provider, OEM and application developer/SW specialist.
It’s an open session in San Francisco 13-15 September 2011. If you are interested please register at www.intel.com/idf/
